As a social and cultural psychologist, I explore contemporary issues in Japan, Korea, and often globally in collaboration with international teams. My research themes include mutual understandings in intercultural relations, environmental psychology, perceptions of future society, and the cultural meaning of happiness. You can find a full list of my publications on my university profile or personal webpage. At the Global Education Office, I provide support for international activities and collaborations involving students and faculty members within our Graduate School of Education. Additionally, I teach courses such as “International Internship I & II” and “International Fieldwork I & II.” If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us first through the Question form on our website.

The same educational program may undergo significant changes when introduced into a new context, shaped by local conditions such as institutional structures, cultural norms, and the surrounding environment. I am particularly interested in the factors that drive such unexpected transformations and in the outcomes they produce. For further details, please see here: https://researchmap.jp/kaz_iwabuchi
In my office, I am responsible for “International Internship I & II” and “International Fieldwork I & II,” where I support students’ international experiences and research activities.

In recent years, we have seen a trend toward the expansion of vocational education and its providers in the higher education system, and I am interested in understanding the various actors involved and the directions in which they are working. Based on the research of China, I am conducting an international comparison of the development mechanism of higher vocational education in East Asia, as well as the view of higher education and view of vocation in each country. Here is more information. In this office, I support students’ study and international exchange programs.
