We are pleased to announce the publication of the book “Reconsidering ‘Japanese-style education’: is it possible to internationally develop a culture of learning?” (Kyoto University Press). The publication has been supervised by the Global Education Office and edited by Keita TAKAYAMA (former Office Director) and Hirokata NANBU (current Office Director).
Statement of Purpose
As result of the research project ‘Development and construction of a support model for the transmission of educational cultures and knowledges built on new theoretical and practical foundations,’ which has been an endeavor advanced since the inception of this Office, we have published “Reconsidering ‘Japanese-style education’: is it possible to internationally develop a culture of learning?”. The publication offers thoughtful insight into what constitutes a ‘Japanese-style education,’ paying close attention to the reality of its multiple educational undertakings, and bringing together a range of expertise on Japanese Education, among others, on its History, Philosophy, Educational Methodologies, Sociology, Clinical & Experimental Psychology and Neuroscience.
